The Orinda Arts Council High School Visual Arts Competition accepts entries for:

Eligibility
All high school students living in or attending school in Moraga, Orinda, or Lafayette are invited to participate.
Judges/Judging Criteria Professionals with experience in (practicing, teaching or representing) the categories judge the competition. The criteria used for judging is:

Awards Cash prizes totaling $2,250 will be awarded with up to $500 to the first place winners of each category. The first place award in the 3D category is the Rick Frudden Memorial Award in memory of Rick Frudden, devoted teacher of 3D Art at Miramonte High School. Citations of merit and achievement will also be awarded by the judges.
Submission Rules Each artist may submit only one entry per category (2D, 3D and Photography) for a total of three entries.
An entry form with signed release/disclaimer (link to come) must be submitted for each entry and submitted no later than March 9, 2007:

| Delivering artwork |
 |
All artwork must be delivered to the Art Gallery of the Orinda Library, 24 Orinda Way, from 1-5pm on either Sunday, March 18th or Monday March 19th. |

Prepping artworkAll artwork must be prepared for display and or ready for hanging. Framed or matted pieces MUST have a secure wire to facilitate hanging. |
 |
The maximum size is no larger than 40" on any one size for 2D artwork. |
 |
3D artwork must be freestanding, prepared for wall mounting or shelf-display and is limited to 8' tall. |
 |
The artist may be required to assist with the installation. |
 |
A copy of the entry form must be attached to the entry (tape to the back of 2D submission). |
 |
AcceptanceArtwork accepted for the show/competition will be at the discretion of the Orinda Arts Council. |
| Hanging Guidelines |
 |
2-D canvases and framed entries should be wired 1/3 from the top. When pulled taut, the wire should be 2 inches from the center of the top. This will keep the frame/canvas from tipping forward. |
 |
For lightweight, unframed photo entries, please mount images on foam core. The Orinda Arts Council will supply hanging hardware (a simple metal hook) that will be pushed into the back of the foam core. |

Exhibit Run/Awards Reception
Entries accepted for the 2007 High School Student Visual Arts Competiton will be on display for public viewing at the Orinda Library Art Gallery, 24 Orinda Way, from March 23rd through April 12th.
Gallery hours are Monday to Thursday, 10am to 8pm; Friday and Saturday, 10am to 6pm; and Sunday 1pm to 5pm.
Participating student artists will be honored at an awards reception on Sunday, March 25th, 3:30 to 5:30pm at the Orinda Library Art Gallery, 24 Orinda Way. The awards ceremony will be held at 4:30pm and will include live music and refreshments. Friends, family and the community are welcome to attend. |
